Autumn sunsets are stunning in Umbria, Central Italy. The lower sun takes longer to set but the colours are incredible. The hills still in the light take warmer shades while the hillsides in the shadow become darker.
The At the Sunset pendant of the Layers of Nostalgia Collection represents one of these special moments, a sweet, long end of an autumn day, with its softness and that unique feeling of a small loss, the first crisp of the night about to win what little warmth left. The hills are almost dark, with some lighter patches and the sun - a labradorite - has a delicate pink-orange colour.
At the Sunset is made of silver, oxidized silver and copper, using several layers of the two metals. The labradoritis has its usual iridescent gay colour but we have inserted a very thin layer of copper under it so that the stone takes some delicate pink-orange shades. It is the last piece of the Layers of Nostalgia Collection and it is dated "October 2021".
It comes with its handmade chain and an oxidized s-shaped elegant clasp.
It has been built to last but it is more delicate than industrial jewelry. We have applied a protective layer on the surface to preserve its colours but they will slightly change somehow over the time as part of a natural process.
We use recycled silver as much as we can, to reduce the environmental impact of our work and for ethical reasons. Recycled silver has exactly the same characteristics and value of mined silver but it is obtained from old jewelry or silverware. From our personal point of view, it adds value to the jewelry we make.
Important: you may polish the piece with a conventional silverware cloth, taking on account that the darker parts may fade if you rub them.
