The Black Rust n.1 Ring and Wide Band are part of our permanent L+G Collection. They come in two versions, Normal and Wide. They are totally handmade in our artisan workshop, from melting the silver to the very last finishing. Their surface has an irregular, not catching, rust-like finishing. Being raw and edgy is a characteristic of these rings but they are accurately finished to allow the best wearability.
The overlapping parts of the rings - a design feature, are not soldered to make it easy to tighten or enlarge them. Nobody's hands will be the same during their whole life and those rings are made to last. You will anyway have to bring them to be professionally adjusted to a different size but it will be an easy work that will not modify your ring's features.
The rings are made of sterling 925 silver and their beautiful, dark colour is obtained by oxidizing the silver with a traditional, natural process. The darkness will naturally wear off on the edges with the use, leaving the dark in the recesses. Should you want it all black again you can either send it back to us or ask a local goldsmith to oxidize it for you at a reasonable cost.
A full white version of the rings is available, the White Rust Ring and Band
As for every jewel we make, these rings are completely handmade. Each piece has its unique, small differences and is made to last for a long time.
We use recycled silver as much as we can, to reduce the environmental impact of our work and for ethical reasons. Recycled silver has exactly the same characteristics and value as mined silver but it is obtained from old jewelry or silverware. From our personal point of view, it adds value to the jewelry we make.
Band or big rings fit less than other rings. If you order the ring in your usual ring size, we will add appropriate room, proportionally to the band dimensions unless you specifically ask us not to adjust it.
These rings were first thought for bigger hands but they are truly nice on any :) , just ask us for a custom, smaller, size.
Please remember to accurately check which width you prefer, to be sure to order the variation you like more.

Crafted by the Maltese shores, with the heart in the Italian mountains
JAD is the creation of Gioia and Ivano, based between Malta and Italy.
Gioia, a psychotherapist with a background in fine art, became a goldsmith in 2007. Ivano, a master stone setter and goldsmith, comes from a family of artists and artisans. We met in Italy, where we opened our first shared workshop in 2011.
Born in 2015 when we moved to Malta, JAD is both an artistic partnership and a small, artisanal jewelry brand nestled on the island of Gozo."
